Ray Lewis

Ray Lewis is founder and director of Eastside Young Leaders’ Academy (EYLA), established in 2002 as an intervention initiative for BME boys at risk of exclusion. Girls were later introduced to the programme.

Ray was formerly a prison service manager and senior advisor to the Mayor of London. In 2007, EYLA sent its first students to Rugby School on a full bursary and since then worked closely with the Arnold Foundation to provide more opportunities. The partnership with Royal SpringBoard has enabled EYLA to increase the number of ‘scholars’ able to access full bursaries from one or two a year to 30.

"I joined the Royal SpringBoard advisory board in pursuit of my commitment to social inclusion and mobility."
