"Not only was boarding school a very interesting experience, it also taught me how to interact with demographics of people that my family and I would not have had the ability to regularly communicate with. I think after boarding school my team work and confidence skills were significantly improved, and I strongly believe that benefitted everyone that I continue to engage with today.
The best thing about boarding school was definitely the pastoral care and the relationships that teachers build with their students. Anything and everything that you need help with, there is someone more than happy to help you.
If I had not gone to boarding school, I would not have had the pleasure of making amazing friends for life, creating once in a lifetime experiences I would have never ever thought to do – like going skiing in Austria for example, and even just job opportunities through networking.
I just graduated from the University of Liverpool with a degree in English Literature and Business Studies and have been really enjoying the summer; exploring islands and being able to read for fun again! In September I will begin a job as a communications officer for the GREAT Britain Campaign within the National Security Communications Team in Cabinet Office. I aspire to be a Government Advisor in the future, and I can’t wait for all my dreams to come true!
I am so happy and grateful I was awarded the opportunity to do this. By having a group of people of no relation to you, that really want to see you succeed, encourages you in a way that I can’t begin to explain. The way that Royal SpringBoard strengthened its already solid links with my family and I, by making sure that I was happy, working hard and flourishing in my new environment, made the transition so much easier.
My parents were born in Ghana, West Africa, and moved to West London in their early 20s to start their family. They settled in North Kensington - a very culturally diverse region in London, but also an area in which the wealth inequality divide is very vivid. This acted as a motivation to me to work hard in order to create a life my family and I deserve."
